In this post I am going to be talking about yet another YouTube channel that has videos that I like watching called Simon’s cat. Some of you might have already heard of it but for those of you who haven’t, Simon’s cat is basically an animated cartoon and a book series made by British animator Simon Tofield. Simon’s cat is a hungry house cat who keeps trying to get his owner to feed him and the methods by which he tries to get his owner’s attention become more and more innovative during the course of the animation. Here’s one video to show you what I mean.
Simon’s cat has garnered a lot of fame over the years, the cartoons were even published in book form, specially released shorts show on the Disney channel and a newspaper strip of Simon’s cat ran on the Daily Mirror from 2011 to 2013. In July 2016, Simon’s cat partnered with Sesame Street as part of their Love to Learn Campaign (the creator of the cartoon that is not the cat itself, that would be too weird otherwise, although maybe a bit fun too).
The creator, Simon Tofield has said that he gets the inspiration from his four real life cats Hugh, Maisie, Jessie and Teddy with Hugh being the main source of his inspiration.
The series has a lot of characters in it, there’s Simon himself, Simon’s cat, a bird, a hedgehog, a garden gnome, a bunny, a kitten, a toad, a frog (they’re different), a female cat, a mouse and more.
Simon makes the cartoons on Adobe Flash and TVPaint and uses a Wacom Intuos 3 graphic tablet to make the drawings (just in case you were curious).
I like this channel, the videos are funny, entertaining and only a few minutes long which makes it great for a quick view when you don’t have that much time but still want to watch something to de-stress. Like say you want to take a short break from something or if say you are working on something but your brain refuses to carry on, so you can use these videos to distract it for a while (that’s what I tend to do).
Anyway that is the end of this post, I hope you enjoy watching Simon’s cat and his crazy antics and I hope the videos help put a little smile on your face because that is the main goal of this blog; to find and share things that can help you feel a little better when you are down, so watch Simon’s cat and have a little laugh.
