When it comes to beating stress one of the best ways you to do it is by distracting yourself, and a good way to distract yourself is by looking up random facts on the internet.
How many of you go on the internet and just look up random facts? Stuff like Creepy Internet mysteries, Conspiracy Theories or Various Urban Legends, that sort of thing. The internet is filled with websites, people and places where you can find various facts about pretty much everything, some interesting, some scary, some funny, some just plain weird. One of my favourite places to get random facts about the world we live in is from the YouTube Channel Thoughty2.
Some of you may have heard of him, others may have not. For those of you who haven’t I’ll give you a small introduction; or, actually he does a pretty good job of it himself so I’ll just quote what he has written in the about page in his channel.
“Thoughty2 (Arran) is a British YouTuber and gatekeeper of useless facts. Thoughty2 creates mind-blowing factual videos, on the weirdest, wackiest and most interesting topics. Combining fascinating lists with answers to life’s biggest questions.”
To give you a better idea of what he talks about here’s a video from his channel
Thoughty2 talks about many different facts and topics like Strange Christmas Traditions
The world’s deadliest tree
Strange facts about North Korea
and who is the world’s most interesting man
If you have a thirst for knowledge, useless or otherwise then Thoughty2 is your man.
The reason why I like Thoughty2’s videos is:
- He covers a lot of different topics that I find interesting (most of the time).
- He uses a lot of ‘dry humour’ in his videos, which is typical in a lot of ‘smart’ British people. Humour is always good and it takes a certain talent to pull of dry humour, which he has.
Usually he makes long videos and wears a suit, but recently he started making shorter videos where he talks in more detail about one particular topic and wears more casual clothes in them (he calls them casual Thursdays).
His videos are nice, entertaining, educational (in a good way), somewhat random, and funny which if you ask me is a great combination.
So if you’re looking to distract yourself from the stresses of everyday life first off think about looking up random facts on the internet, and once you’ve decided to do that, try watching Thoughty2, you’ll feel your stress ebb away.
