Everyone probably already knows what a teleportation device is and why it would be useful to have one. Which means writing about it is pointless. But you know what? I’m going to write about it anyway, because I want to.
Let’s start this post off with explaining what a teleportation device is, in case there is someone reading this who doesn’t know.
A teleportation device is basically a device that allows you to go from one place to another almost instantaneously, no matter the distance. How it does this – whether it is by portals, magic, converting you into energy and reassembling you later, making you go through another dimension, or some other method – doesn’t matter too much. The important thing is that it does!
Now let’s look into a couple of things:
Why do I want this?
How often have you had to get up early for something (like work) because of how long it takes to travel to a place? Teleportation gets rid of that problem, so now I can get more sleep!
Also, I tend to be late to a lot of things; it’s my own fault really. With teleportation though, I’ll never be late again. Maybe.
Not to mention, I will never have to worry about traffic or car maintenance again. I won’t need a car because I can teleport!
What would I do with it?
Apart from going to work and avoiding traffic, I would probably travel more. I mentioned in a previous post that I hate traveling. Well, hate is a strong word. It’s not that I don’t like seeing new places, I genuinely like seeing new places and people. What I don’t like is the long rides, cramped spaces, the time it takes and the sometimes bad accommodation. I’ve had the misfortune of having to stay in super cheap hotels with dirty rooms, broken toilets and no running water. I say no thanks to all of that if I can avoid it.
With teleportation though, I won’t ever have to worry about traveling. I can go to almost any place I want and when I’m done I can just teleport home and sleep in my own bed. Plus, I don’t have to worry about dirty public toilets anymore!
The possible dangers and how to offset them
Of course I realise if teleportation were possible, there are a lot of potential dangers.
People could abuse it for breaking and entering. There’s the danger of a malfunction and you ending up in a random place you don’t want to be like a desert or underground.
There’s a chance that only parts of you get teleported and rest of you stays behind (talk about horror movie material).
And that’s only the stuff I can think of.
So you’d have to come up with proper counter measures, like security protocols to prevent home invasion.
A default hub where everyone would get sent to if the teleporter can’t send you to your intended destination. The hub would be a place with tons of other working teleporters which you can use to continue your journey.
As for the leaving pieces behind part, the best case scenario is to perfect the device so that it will never happen. Barring that, the only thing I can think of is an emergency service where responders will teleport immediately to come help you.
Of course this is all silly; it’s very unlikely that we will be able to create teleportation. At least, not anytime soon.
It was just something that I was thinking about and felt like sharing with you.
That’s it for this post, I hope you liked it and I hope you have a nice day ahead.
