Is there an absolute way to attain a happy state of mind?

While your answer may vary, for me the answer is no there isn’t. Here’s why I say this.

We’re all very different people, from very different places, following very different cultures, living very different lives. That means what makes us happy is different for everyone. Yes, there are some things that will make many people happy, but they won’t make everyone happy.

Happiness can mean different things to a person; you may be happy when you go for a walk outside, whereas I get happy when I stay inside playing computer games. You may feel happy after drinking a nice bowl of onion soup, but I might hate onions so drinking onion soup would make me very unhappy.

There is also the fact that we change. Sometimes it’s because of the natural passage of time; other times it’s because of a significant event. It could be a tragedy like the death of a loved one or a monumentally happy event like the birth of a child (of course sometimes this isn’t a happy thing for some people, it depends on the circumstances).

Finally, there’s the fact that no one is always completely happy and blissful all the time. Life is filled with highs and lows, sometimes big, sometimes small. And these things, whatever they are, will make us sad or upset in some way.

That isn’t to say I don’t believe we can’t be happy. I believe we can change our mind-set such that we are optimistic for the most part. What I don’t believe is that there is an absolute or guaranteed way that can make everyone happy. I believe that everyone can make themselves happy in their own way; it’s up to us to find out what that way is though.

Well that’s it for this post. What are your thoughts on an absolute way to attain happiness? Anyway, I hope you liked it and I hope you have a good day ahead. See you next time.
