How replaceable are you?

People always talk about how unique each of us are, how two people are never alike and how no one could ever take your/my place.

But how true is that? Are we truly irreplaceable?

For example, let’s talk about say a workplace. You may be really good at your job, heck maybe even the best. But there are always other people who could do the job and at least a few who could do it just as good as you. So if you were to quit or were fired, they could probably find someone else to do your job.

How about a relationship? You’re in a relationship with someone when one day your significant other breaks up with you for whatever reason. Later they find someone new, you’ve been replaced by that person. You don’t have to worry though, because you could potentially do the same and find someone else.

How about something much more dark, like death? Someone very important to you dies unexpectedly (mother, father, wife, husband, child, etc.), you grieve your loss, time goes by, you’re able to deal with the pain better. You make new friends, you find someone new, you interact with the children in the neighbourhood, you’ve somewhat replaced the person you lost (not really but you get the idea).

In a really cold and logical sense, everyone is replaceable. There is no such thing as being truly irreplaceable.

However, in an emotional sense people are irreplaceable. No one can ever truly replace the person you love or loved even if you have moved on. No one can replace that friend you became out-of-touch with. No one can replace the person who raised you, the one you looked up to, the one you were willing to share everything with.

For me, in the end, it comes down to a matter of perception, if you feel someone is irreplaceable, then to you they are and forever will be. Unfortunately, there are others who do not feel the same, and are more than willing to replace one person with the other, but that is the world we live in.

It is up to us how we live our lives, and it is up to us to decide who is important in our lives.

Anyway, that’s the end of this post. I hope you liked it and I hope you have a good day ahead.
