I already talked about how puzzles are very good ways to help distract yourself from your everyday life and how they can be therapeutic. I talked about it in my post about riddles and the one about jigsaw puzzles. But technology is a wonderful thing, we’ve come to a point in our lives when we don’t need to buy physical puzzles from a store, we can just play them on the internet. One such puzzle game is the one I am going to be talking about in this post, Home Sheep Home.
It’s a small little game based on the cartoon Shaun the sheep (you know that cartoon right?)
In it you control three sheep: Shaun, Shirley and Timmy. You have to navigate them through each level and ultimately help them get back to the barn. Each sheep has its own special quality, Timmy is small and light, Shirley is big and heavy and Shaun is somewhere in the middle. As you play the game you need to think of how you can use these qualities of theirs to traverse the obstacles in your way and get all the sheep to the end of the level. As you play, each level gets a little harder and you can end up losing some of your sheep if you’re not careful. If you lose a sheep you lose the level.
Do you think you can get the sheep home? Try it out for yourself here.
Is the game worth it? Granted it’s not a high end game with the best graphics and all that jazz, it’s just a small puzzle game you can play on the internet, for free. Besides, the point isn’t to look for Triple A games with more than a million dollar budget which gamers must have, the point is to occupy your mind and distract yourself so that you won’t dwell on whatever it is that stresses you. Our brains have an annoying habit of wanting to think about something, and sometimes it latches on to thoughts that stress us out, the only way to solve that problem is by occupying ourselves with something else like a puzzle and this game can do just that. So yes, it is worth it.
Of course there is the chance that it isn’t your type of game, in which case you might want to check out my other posts where I talk about games that you can use to help with stress, or you could just google it yourself too, whatever works for you.
I hope you have fun with the game and that it helps you forget about your day for a while.
